We had an exciting meeting on Friday so we booked a flight to Sydney after work Thursday and off we went. We had been to Bondi Beach before passing through on our way to Byron Bay but never experienced Sydney itself, so we were pretty excited!
I booked us a little apartment on Curlewis Street (which is soo close to town), it was so cute and so clean.. although we were provided with no toilet paper.
As soon as we landed we picked up our hire car and drove straight to Bondi Beach. Unpacked and headed down to grab some late night food. We found the best homemade dumpling place on the corner of the main street. We got some fried rice and some dumplings.
We had to wake up early to move the car, the one thing that sucks about Bondi Beach is that you can never get a park, and when you do it’s only for a max for 2 hours – you either have to pay OR be lucky enough to snatch a free 2 hour park. I’m pretty sure the residents leave their car spots to their grandchildren in all their wills.
We had to be in Sydney by 11AM for our meeting with Finder.com.au. I’m so proud of my partner. After the podcast, we decided to do some tourist activities, by first, visiting the Sydney Tower.
We then did a little shopping and headed towards the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It was such a nice day in Sydney, compared to depressing Melbourne weather. We arrived at the Opera House and it’s sooooo beautiful – we enjoyed it very much. We sat down at one of the restaurants along the pier and ordered some fresh crab and a jug of beer. SOOOOOOO FREAKING DELICIOUS! I wish I could remember the restaurant!!
By 4PM, we were very tired, so we headed back into Bondi Beach and had a few beers at the apartment. Aretha Franklin had passed away this weekend, so I jammed to her songs for a couple hours. Dinner time came and we decided to go eat German. My partner Jaz is German so it’s always a fun time. Jaz ordered us a tower of beer, then decides he hates the taste of the beer, guess who drank it all!? YEP. me!
The next morning, we got up again, to move the car every two hours. There was a market on in a Primary School which took up our morning and was so close to the car. We walked all the way over to the other side of Bondi and visited the Icebergs (very popular place). Then we got a little bored and didn’t know what else to do but go grab a beer. Our flight wasn’t until Sunday morning @ 6AM. Having to move the car every two hours, didn’t really give us much time to do things so I changed our flights and we headed back home that night.
